Common Names: Peacock Plant, Zebra Plant

There are several dozen species in this genus. Native to the tropical Americas, many of the species are popular as pot plants due to their decorative leaves and, in some species, colorful inflorescence. They are commonly called calatheas or (like their relatives) prayer plants.

NATIVE LAND: Tropical Americas

WATER: Water when top 1- 2 inches if soil is dry. Prefers a humid climate

LIGHT: bright indirect light

ISSUES:

  • root rot - overwatering

  • leaf curling or crispy -underwatered (and could use a misting)

BENEFITS:

PET/KID FRIENDLY: Non toxic ton humans and pets
